HOW WE BUILT THIS
We compile these profiles from each university's own published admissions pages and review them monthly. Entry requirements do change mid-cycle, and universities sometimes publish updates without announcing them.
Use this page to get oriented quickly, build your shortlist, and work out which questions to ask — then confirm the specifics that your application depends on (grades, admissions test, fees, eligibility) directly with the university before you apply. If you spot something that looks out of date, tell us and we will check it.

New Medical School — International Only for 2027: St Mary's University Twickenham is a new medical school. Applications for September 2027 are open, but only to international (non-UK/Irish) students — Home/UK and Irish applications are not possible for this cycle. St Mary's says it expects to open to Home students in the future, but has not said when. Always verify current information directly with the university.
Note: The UCAT format changed in July 2025 with the removal of Abstract Reasoning, reducing the maximum score from 3,600 to 2,700. Cut-off scores and statistics from previous years may not directly apply to the current format.
Considering St Mary's Twickenham Medicine? Here's a complete breakdown of entry requirements, admissions criteria, and the application process for 2027 entry.
St Mary's University, Twickenham is the UK's largest Catholic university and has established a new medical school. The MBBS aims to train doctors with a strong ethical foundation and commitment to service, and the School of Medicine publishes a Social Accountability Framework setting out its commitment to its local communities. For September 2027 entry it is open to international (non-UK/Irish) students only; Home/UK applications are expected to open in a future cycle once the programme is established.
Located in Twickenham, South West London, St Mary's offers a campus university experience while still being well-connected to central London. The university has a strong tradition in healthcare education, already offering programmes in physiotherapy and sport science.
| Route | UCAS Code | Length | Who can apply for September 2027 |
|---|---|---|---|
| MBBS Medicine | A100 | 5 years | International (non-UK/Irish) applicants only |
| Gateway, foundation or graduate entry route | — | — | Does not exist. St Mary's integrated foundation years cover business, law, criminology, education, psychology, nutrition and sport — not medicine. |
The following requirements apply to the St Mary's MBBS (A100) for 2027/28 entry, which is open to international (non-UK/Irish) students only. St Mary's publishes the headline requirement as 144 UCAS points and warns that "meeting the criteria below for admission is not a guarantee of invitation to interview".
| Qualification | Requirement |
|---|---|
| A-Level Grades | AAA |
| Required Subjects | Chemistry or Biology, plus another science (from Biology, Chemistry, Physics or Maths) |
All applicants must sit the UCAT in the year of application; alternative admissions tests (BMAT, GAMSAT, MCAT) are not accepted. St Mary's states that results from the first attempt only will be accepted. Shortlisted applicants then complete a virtual Multiple Mini Interview (MMI).
"St Mary's University is entering medical education with its established strengths in ethics, pastoral care, and health sciences. For international students who value a values-driven education with a campus feel while still being in London, this is a genuinely interesting new option."
— Dr. Ash, Future Doc
St Mary's campus is in Twickenham, South West London. The area offers a more suburban feel than central London, with excellent green spaces including nearby Richmond Park. Transport links to central London are good via rail.
A contextual offer is an adjustment a university makes for applicants whose circumstances have made their education harder than the grades alone suggest. Universities use them because they recognise that two students with the same predicted grades have not always had the same run at them. They are a formal, published part of the admissions process — not a favour, and not something you have to argue for.
What the adjustment actually is varies by school, and it matters more than most applicants realise. Depending on where you apply, qualifying can mean: a lower grade offer; being ranked against other widening participation applicants rather than the whole field; a guaranteed or prioritised interview; a lower admissions test threshold or extra shortlisting points; relaxed GCSE or subject requirements; or access to a separate gateway or foundation year route.
St Mary's publishes no contextual or widening participation scheme for this course — and the reason is structural rather than an oversight. The MBBS currently accepts international applicants only. St Mary's states it plainly: "Currently, we can only accept applications from international (non-UK/Irish) students." UK and Irish home students cannot apply for September 2027 entry, which forecloses any UK widening participation route into the course.
| What it is | What that means for you |
|---|---|
| International MBBS scholarships (10 available) | All international MBBS applicants are automatically considered — there is no separate application. Ten awards of £3,000 per year of enrolment, applied as a tuition fee discount. Awards are based on performance in the MMI, with successful candidates showing alignment with the School of Medicine's values and a commitment to social purpose. |
| But understand what it is not | This is a merit award decided at interview, not a widening participation mechanism. It does not lower your offer, lower your UCAT bar, or improve your chances of being shortlisted. Against fees of around £48,000 a year over five years, £3,000 a year covers roughly 6% of tuition. Students whose external award or sponsorship already covers their full St Mary's tuition are not eligible. |
You cannot apply to this course for September 2027 entry. St Mary's says it "expect[s] to be open for Home students in the future", and a contextual or widening participation position may well be published when home recruitment opens — but nothing is published now, and planning around an unannounced future cycle is not a strategy. If you are a UK widening participation applicant, put your effort into the schools that publish a scheme you can actually use.

| Fee Status | Annual Tuition |
|---|---|
| Home (UK) | Not applicable. The MBBS accepts international (non-UK/Irish) applicants only for September 2027 entry, so St Mary's publishes no Home rate for this course. |
| International | £48,000 is the figure St Mary's displays under the heading "September 2027". Treat it as provisional: the footnote immediately below it on the same page says "the above fees are for September 2026 and September 2027 fees will be published shortly". Confirm the figure before you commit. |
Deposit: all international students are required to pay a tuition fee deposit as a condition of their offer.
Scholarships: ten awards of £3,000 a year, applied as a tuition fee discount, decided on MMI performance. All international MBBS applicants are considered automatically. Students whose external funding already covers their full St Mary's tuition are not eligible.
Verified October 2026 on the St Mary's MBBS Medicine course page. St Mary's notes that fees are annual and may increase in line with its tuition fee variation disclaimer.

Most applicants treat the medical school application as a series of separate hurdles: the UCAT, personal statement, work experience, university selection, and interviews. They try to solve each one independently. This creates a fragmented approach where the pieces never add up.
Future Doc works differently. Through the Predictable Offer Protocol, a dedicated coach who knows your complete profile coordinates every element of your application as one interconnected system. Every decision is made with the full picture in mind.
The result: 93% of our students receive at least one offer. If they don't, they come back next year for free.
